Roper St. Francis Healthcare is teaming with three local churches to launch a community outreach program called "Families for a Healthy Heart." The goal is to teach the value of leading a healthy lifestyle through increased physical activity and improved eating habits. A registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator will teach healthy lifestyle education classes through March at participating churches. The classes are free for the churches' congregations. Future classes include: --Diabetes Part 2 & Carbohydrate Counting: Jan. 26, noon-1:30 p.m. Jerusalem Baptist Church, 684 Rutledge Ave., downtown Charleston. --Hypertension — DASH & Low Sodium Diet: Feb. 11, 6:30-8 p.m. Life Center Cathedral, 7190 Cross County Road, North Charleston. --Cholesterol, Heart Disease & Low Fat, Low Cholesterol Diet: Feb. 25, 6:30-8 p.m. Life Center Cathedral, 7190 Cross County Road, North Charleston. --Putting It All Together: March 8, 10-11:30 a.m. New Life Christian Fellowship Life Dome, 358 Liberty Hall Road, Goose Creek. --Virtual Grocery Store Tour & Planning for Cookoff: March 29, noon-1:30 p.m. Jerusalem Baptist Church, 684 Rutledge Ave., downtown Charleston.
