Comcast and Roper St. Francis Partner To Launch New Medical Talk Show

HealthBeat, a new weekly program designed to provide television viewers with up-to-the-minute health and medical information, premieres on Comcast C2 beginning Monday, January 8th. HealthBeat will air Monday through Sunday at 2 pm and Friday through Sunday at 7 pm.

Each show lasts 30 minutes and provides viewers with an in-depth look at medical breakthroughs, treatments and procedures as well as seasonal topics. Roper St. Francis physicians and healthcare professionals will offer expert information in their fields.

The first show kicks off the New Year with information and helpful tips on healthy eating and nutrition, exercise, stress management and smoking cessation. Featured topics during January include:
· Colds and Flu
· Breast Care
· Heart Care, including signs, symptoms and prevention

Merritt Dempsey, who many viewers will remember as a local morning anchor and medical news reporter, will host HealthBeat. Dempsey’s television background spans nearly a decade, having worked as a reporter and anchor outside of Atlanta and also in Pensacola, FL. She is currently a media relations manager at Roper St. Francis Healthcare.

“HealthBeat gives us an opportunity to offer viewers throughout the Lowcountry information that they care about and can use to improve their overall health and wellness,” said Dempsey. “The Roper St. Francis medical staff is comprised of more than 700 physicians representing every medical specialty. That means our viewers will get timely and relevant health information.

“Community health education and outreach is an important part of our mission at Roper St. Francis Healthcare,” added Dempsey. “We’re pleased to partner with Comcast to present this valuable program.”
