“MedShare brings a variety of specialty physicians to one convenient location and provides a choice for patients who want medical appointments closer to their homes,” explained Sybil Kellam, Roper St. Francis MedShare Administrator. She added that the spacious 4,000 square foot space includes nine examination rooms to accommodate three physicians and their patients at one time.
MedShare’s hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. For information on each physician’s schedule or to schedule an appointment, call 843-849-2596.
With the addition of the General Electric CTi series single-slice scanner, the Mount Pleasant Medical Center will offer a range of imaging services, according to Mike Ricciardone, Roper St. Francis Healthcare’s Director of Imaging. “Our Mount Pleasant Imaging CT system is fully integrated into the Roper St. Francis PACS (Picture Archive and Communication System). All CT and diagnostic radiography studies will be immediately sent electronically to a radiologist for interpretation,” Ricciardone said. “This makes it possible for most reports to be available to physicians and their patients on a very timely basis.” The CT scanner is housed in the Center’s Diagnostic Services area, which includes laboratory testing, EKG and radiology services.
Diagnostic services will be offered Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. For additional information or to schedule an appointment, call 843-402-5000. Walk-ins with appropriate physician referral will be accepted as scheduling permits.
In June, Roper St. Francis Healthcare submitted a Certificate of Need application to the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) requesting approval to build a new 85-bed hospital at Carolina Park, adjacent to Wando High School. The proposed Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital will include 24-hour emergency care; inpatient and outpatient surgery; women’s services including obstetrics; intensive and critical care units; and imaging, laboratory and pharmacy. Upon DHEC approval, plans call for the first patients to be seen at the new hospital in late 2008.
