Roper St. Francis Healthcare Offers
Program on Bloodless Medicine and Surgery
August 31, 2005
Roper St. Francis Healthcare is offering a FREE, informative session on its Bloodless Medicine and Surgery Program. The session will take place on Monday, September 12
at 6 p.m. in Roper Hospital’s Irene Dixon Auditorium, 316 Calhoun Street. Complimentary parking is available in the Lucas Street and Doughty Street garages.
The program, one of the few of its kind in the Southeast, provides an alternative for patients desiring medical care without the use of blood transfusions.
“Thousands of people choose bloodless medicine technology for religious or personal reasons,” said Stanley Wilson, M.D., Medical Director of the Roper St. Francis Bloodless Medicine and Surgery Program. “This program is a natural extension of our mission, ‘Healing All People with Compassion, Faith and Excellence.’ Each patient is treated as an individual with unique values, beliefs and convictions.”
State-of-the-art technology now makes it possible to perform some of the most complicated procedures with a minimum of blood loss, according to Dr. Wilson. “Thanks to sophisticated medical advances, we can perform virtually every available surgical procedure without the use of blood or blood products,” he said.
Dr. Wilson is keynote speaker for the program. The presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer session with panelists.
Registration is required. Those interested in attending should call 843-402-CARE (2273).
