Alive and wellOn Nov. 15, I underwent quadruple heart by-pass surgery at Roper St. Francis Hospital. A diagnostic heart catheterization revealed a serious condition, requiring immediate surgery. That I am still alive and well, and on my way to complete recovery is a tribute to Dr. John Spratt and his surgical team, as well as the dedicated staff at the heart center there. I was able to leave ICU the day after the operation and was discharged the following Monday. Mere words cannot express the gratitude I feel for the caring, compassionate treatment that I received from everyone who had a part in looking after me. From the surgeon to the custodial staff, all went above and beyond what could have been expected. The Charleston community is indeed fortunate to have this facility. What a comfort to know that should you need heart care, there are dedicated doctors, nurses and other essential staff ready to do whatever is necessary to repair your body and return you to your family. God bless each of you. RONALD DOYLE Ivy Circle |
