There is recognition throughout the organization of nursing as integral to the operations and success of the organization. Nursing is celebrated in many venues, including the RN/LPN of the Year, Palmetto Gold, Daisy Award, Nurses Week celebration, and the achievement recognition event during Nurses Week.
Professional Research Consultants, Inc. (PRC) surveys our medical staff annually. Compared to PRC’s national database of 400 hospitals, our physicians’ 2007 rankings (in percentiles) of our nursing staff as excellent were:

BSSF strives to be a model corporate citizen. Examples of our involvement in our community include:
- Screenings and health fairs,
- Staff fundraising and participation in the American Hearth Association’s annual HeartWalk,
- Women’s Expo 2007 in collaboration with the Center for Women and Skirt! Magazine,
- Red Hot Mamas (menopause support program),
- Back pain inservices at community churches and recreation centers,
- Safe Sitter classes sponsored onsite by St. Francis’ WIC,
- Teenage childbirth education classes offered in partnership with Baptist Hill High School,
- Sponsorship of Belk Mothers’ Lounges for breastfeeding moms and their babies,
- Provision of AEDs in schools and churches,
- Day of Caring (Trident United Way), and the
- Annual Pregnancy Celebration in cooperation with Babies R Us and Costco.
