Professional development is promoted by nursing scholarships, paid education leave, and tuition reimbursement. Up from 5% in January 2005, 35% of our RNs are certified in their specialties due to the organization providing funds for review sessions and testing. Direct care nurses are involved in a variety of the hospital’s decision-making bodies and work groups. As a result of these and other factors, 62.5% of our patients rated our nursing care as excellent in 2006 (PRC 87.5 percentile). Year to date 2007 PRC percentile for this indicator is 90.2.
