Roper St. Francis Amazing Health Expo Slated for March 13

Charleston, SC – Roper St. Francis Healthcare will sponsor an Amazing Health Expo on Thursday, March 13 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Culinary Institute of Charleston at Trident Technical College, 7000 Rivers Ave. in North Charleston. The Expo will give area residents the opportunity to learn from and ask questions of some of the leading medical experts in our community on a wide variety of medical topics.

The Expo will include 12 breakout sessions each featuring Roper St. Francis physicians and health care professionals, who will cover a wealth of information in four broad topic areas or “tracks” including:

• Heart and Vascular
• Cancer
• Women's Health
• Spine/Orthopedics including Joint Care

Heart and vascular offerings will include sessions on advances in the treatment of heart disease including drug-eluting stents and minimally invasive heart surgery, vascular disease including treatment options, limb health and surviving stroke, and learning to live with diabetes with information on exercise and fitness as well as foot and wound care.

Cancer topics will cover the use of robotics in treatment, highlighting CyberKnife and the da Vinci robot, both of which were recently acquired and are available to patients at Roper St. Francis Healthcare, an update on breast cancer diagnosis and treatment, and cancer prevention and survival information.

Special offerings in the Women’s Health track include information about drug interactions, living wills and health care advocates as well as menopause and uterine health including hysterectomy.

Spine and orthopedic topics range from brain tumors to hip and knee replacements and back care and treatments for vertebral compression and lumbar spinal stenosis.
