Roper St. Francis Names Kim Aquino Recipient of 2007 President’s Humanity Award
Kim Aquino, a recreational therapy specialist at Roper St. Francis Rehabilitation Hospital, has been named the winner of the 2007 President’s Humanity Award – Roper St. Francis Healthcare’s (RSFH’s) highest honor.
“It’s easy to understand why coworkers describe Kim as a ‘passionate’ therapist,” said RSFH President and CEO David L. Dunlap in presenting the Award. “She’s routinely seen going the extra mile to make sure her patients have the best possible opportunity to return to their homes and community with the capability to live as full a life as possible.”
Kim’s efforts go far beyond the walls of the Rehabilitation Hospital. She is actively involved in the Wheelchair Division of the Cooper River Bridge Run, has served on the Board of the S.C. Wheelchair Games, and is also active in the Downtown Amputees Support Group, and Stroke Support Group. Last summer, she took an active role in a program called Anchors Away, an adaptive water sport clinic.
“Kim is an individual who lives each and every day – both in her professional and personal life – as a shining example of Roper St. Francis Healthcare’s Mission and Standards of Behavior,” Dunlap added.
