Roper St. Francis Names 2007 Nursing Staff of Year;
Three RNs Also Tapped for State’s Palmetto Gold Awards

In conjunction with National Nurses Week, May 6-12, Roper

St. Francis Healthcare (RSFH) is pleased to announce its

2007 Nursing Staff of the Year:

  • Tracey Chisolm, LPN, Roper Hospital Dream Pool*
  • Latoya Gailliard, Unit Secretary, Roper Hospital Dream Pool*
  • Mary Ann Jensen, RN, Roper St. Francis Medical Center Berkeley, Ambulatory Surgery Center
  • Anna Nicholson, LPN, Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital Dream Pool*
  • Kelly Scott, RN, CNN, Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital Hemodialysis Unit
  • Lacey Sturgis, PCA, Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital Dream Pool*

“We are proud to recognize our nursing staff and all they do for our organization,” said David L. Dunlap, RSFH President and CEO. “We applaud them for their professionalism, passion and commitment to caring. Without them, we simply could not exist.”

In addition, three Roper St. Francis RN’s are among 100 nurses from throughout the state selected to receive the Palmetto Gold Award presented annually by the South Carolina Nurses Foundation. They are:

  • Monika Dutton, MSN, RN-BC, Director of Professional Development for RSFH
  • Michelle Frye, RN, BSN, Roper Hospital’s Buxton Surgical Pavilion
  • Mary Jane Plance, MSN, CCRN, Roper Hospital’s Buxton Surgical Pavilion

Honorees for both accolades, Palmetto Gold and Nursing Staff of the Year, were nominated by their peers to recognize their accomplishments and contributions to patients, communities and the profession of nursing.

National Nurses Week is held annually to coincide with Florence Nightingale’s birthday. She is considered by many to be the founder of modern nursing. Roper St. Francis Healthcare currently employs more than 1,000 nurses.

* Roper St. Francis Healthcare’s DreamPool includes RNs, LPNs, PCAs and unit secretaries who are trained for inpatient nursing units for both Roper and St. Francis hospitals. Dream Schedule provides RNs on inpatient nursing units a long term, predictable schedule with no requirement to rotate shifts or work every other weekend. Additional Work Only Weekends (WOW) positions have been created for nurses who prefer weekend work.
