As a leader in stroke care, in 2006 Roper Hospital’s Primary Stroke Center was the first in the Lowcountry to be certified by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).
In addition to strictly following the American Stroke Association’s evidence-based guidelines, our stroke team continues to provide individualized, expert care. Our specialists provide comprehensive medical treatment for stroke, from immediate treatment for people experiencing a stroke to specialized rehabilitation care for those recovering from stroke.
Roper St. Francis Healthcare specialists provide advanced medical treatments, including:

In 2008, the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilitie (CARF) awarded the Roper Rehabilitation Hospital certification in specialized stroke rehabilitation. We are the only rehabilitation hospital in the lowcountry to have this specialty stroke certification. Patients received personalized care from an experienced team of physical, occupational, and speech therapists to help them recuperate from disabling side effects and lower the risks of future strokes.
